Blizzard has posted a preview of the warlock tier 13 armor. You can check it out the whole preview on their blog

Below is the tier 13 armor.

Blizzard’s description:

“A set with the flavor of the Old Gods about it – General Vezax from the Ulduar raid was a reference point. Any warlock tier is a great opportunity to bring a dark and warped aesthetic to player gear and this set was especially ripe for the treatment. Replacing the caster’s face with writhing tentacles was the ‘hook’ I started the concept with and built out from there. We always try to include numerous points of illumination into a tier set as it helps to tie the various armour pieces together – whether that be glowing gemstones, fiery runes or, as in this case, bulging otherworldly eyes!”

Based on the info provided, it looks like the tokens for this armor are going to be dropping off Deathwing and his minions.

Blizzard’s preview also has pictures of all the previous tier sets for use in Transmogrification.

Not exactly a warlock related post, but words out that patch 4.3 is going to decrease the time it takes to level from 71-80. Good news for any warlocks out there who are still leveling up. I personally found it to take a bit longer than I’d like but then again I’ve leveled 4 chars to 80 so I am a bit sick of WOTLK content.

In other patch 4.3 news, it looks like they are implementing a raid finder similar to the dungeon finder. I can’t see it working for brand new raids, but it’ll be a great way to gear up and get the raid weeklies done.

Patch 4.2 added a new legendary weapon for casters called Dragonwrath (link opens in a new window).

To actually get the weapon is no small feat. It requires you to complete an epic quest chain that involves raiding.

We’ll be posting a more involved guide in the future, but this weapon is a BEAST.

It’ll let you turn into a dragon which you can fly around as.

When you deal damage, you have a chance to gain the Wrath of Tarecgosa, duplicating the harmful spell. For dots it will instant cast a direct damage spell of equivalent damage to a single tick of the dot. In theory, each tick of the dot should have a chance to trigger the effect, which means this weapon is going to be a HUGE damage increase.

As you go through the quest line, the weapon evolves into 4 different forms which you can see below.

Whether or not you choose to go after this weapon is entirely up to you, but you will need help from a guild and it will take some time.

As of this post Siiz is the only confirmed player to have completed the quest line.

It’ll only work for the same item type (plate -> plate) you can’t do plate -> cloth etc.. but you’ll be able to turn your new T11 or T12 and so forth gear into your favorite old styles.

I’m personally pretty excited as I’ve found the latest warlock armor to be a little lame in the looks department.

It’ll be a tough choice between for me.

Added a gearing up at 85 guide and a gem guide. The gear guide is in our raid category and gem guide can be found on the left nav. Our gear guide is designed for new 85s who may need a few quick methods of getting a high enough ilvl to get into basic heroics. You’ll still need to do a few regular heroics to get into the Zul’Gurub 5 man heroics, but it shouldn’t take long.

The gem guide has info on raiding and pvp gem set ups – It is what we’ve found work best.

We’ll hopefully have a few more guides up soon – possibly a few more generic ones for gold farming spots etc.. and also soloing instances/old raids.

When you begin gearing up your lock and when you finally achieve your epic gear, you are going to notice that you can enhance your gear with gems. It’s important to understand, however, that not just any gem will do. You have to put the right gems in the right slots. If you don’t, your lock won’t be reaching his or her fullest potential, whether it be for raid DPS or PVP action.

The first thing you need to understand is that your gems should match the color of your gem slots. If they don’t, you will not receive the bonus that is provided to you by the gem slots, and these bonuses can be quite substantial.

PVE Warlock Gems

If you are going to be focused on PVE end-game content, you’ll need to get gems that increase your DPS output. Fortunately, this shouldn’t be too hard to do.

Your Metagem Socket:

For your metasocket slot you will want to get hold of a Chaotic Shadowspirit Diamond. This gem will give you +54 critical strike rating and 3 percent increased critical damage. Just make sure that you have at least 3 red gems equipped when you buy this metagem. If you don’t have 3 red gems equipped you won’t be able to use it.

Other popular warlock metasocket gems include the Bracing Shadowspirit Diamond (+54 Intellect and 2 percent reduced threat), the Ember Shadowspirit Diamond (+54 Intellect and +2 percent maximum mana) and the Forlorn Shadowspirit Diamond (+54 Intellect and 10 percent reduction in silence duration).

Other Gem Sockets:

To fill up those red gem slots that you’ll need in order to equip the Chaotic Shadowspirit Diamond, get some Brilliant Inferno Rubies. Each of these gems will increase your Intellect by 40.

If you have blue slots that you need to fill, look for Veiled Demonseye. Each of these gems will increase your Intellect by 20 and your Hit by 20.

If you need to increase haste, you can purchase yellow gems that will match either a red or yellow socket. These gems are called Reckless Ember Topaz and each will increase your haste by 20 and will give you an additional 20 in Intellect.

PVP Warlock Gems

If you want to gear your toon for PVP, your gems will be a bit different than the gems that PVE players use.

Metasocket Gems:

For your metasocket you will want to get a Burning Shadowspirit Diamond. This gem will provide you with an additional 54 Intellect and 3 percent critical damage.

Other Gem Sockets:

For blue sockets, you can purchase one or two Steady Dream Emeralds. These gems will provide you with increased stamina and resilience. For more resilience, Mystic Amberjewel will add 40 resilience per gem.

If you’re looking to increase your Intellect, Brilliant Inferno Rubies are the way to go. Each gem will provide you with +40 Intellect.

For increased Intellect and Haste, you will want to select Reckless Ember Topaz. These are yellow gems that can fit into either a red or yellow socket. Each gem will give you +20 Intellect and +20 Haste.

If your spells seem to be “missing” more than they should, stack up on hit. Veiled Demonseye are blue gems that offer +20 Intellect and +20 Hit.

In Closing

Just remember, do not spend all of your money on gems for gear that you will be upgrading quickly. Gems can be expensive, and the expensive gems should be reserved for top-end gear and gear that you plan on keeping for a while.

If you think hitting level 85 is all that is required to get into those end-game raids that you have been waiting for, you’re going to be in for an unpleasant surprise. Sure, you’ll see those calls for casters in trade chat and you’ll go to respond, but once the raid leader sees your gear score he or she is going to either:

a) Immediately boot you from the group without explanation.

b) Have everyone laughing at you within moments of your arrival.

c) Kindly explain that you need better gear before you can begin raiding and then boot you from the group.

The bottom line is that hitting level 85 is not all that is required in order for you to be of use in the PVE raiding environment. You have to get geared up, and that is going to take a bit of work.

First, run some non-heroic dungeons and roll on everything you can. Once you are geared up enough to hit the heroic dungeons, it’s time to start running those. Again, run the dungeons frequently and roll on everything you possibly can. Ideally you will want to be covered in purples before you hit your first raid group. When it comes to raids, greens are absolutely unacceptable and blues are a maybe depending on the rest of your gear and the raid you are going into.

If you don’t want to run regular dungeons in order to gear up for heroics you can go and buy some PVP gear and run the heroics using that set. Be forewarned, however, that if someone in the dungeon inspects you because your DPS is low they may verbally assault you for running the heroic in PVP attire.

The auction house is another great place to look for quality PVP epic gear that will definitely get you into heroics and might even get you into some raids. The problem is, this gear is really going to cost you. Don’t be surprised to spend at least 4k gold or more for a single piece of gear. Unless you have plenty of gold laying around, completely attiring yourself in quality auction house gear is going to take time.

What you might want to do is befriend a tailor who will “assemble” the mats of the gear together at no charge (or for a small tip). See if your guild has a tailor handy and find the mats that you need for particular gear pieces. Then begin farming those mats so you can get the gear you have had your eye on.

Once you have clothed yourself in epic gear, make sure you know your gear score. Then when you see a call for warlock help in trade chat, you can ask what gear score the raid leader is requiring and will know whether or not you meet the raid’s gear requirements.

If you think excelling as a warlock has everything to do with your talent tree and spell rotation, you’re sorely mistaken. The glyphs you choose will also play a vital role in how well your Destruction warlock does, whether it be leveling, raiding or battling on the PVP fields. The wrong glyphs mean less power, and that’s the last thing a Destruction warlock wants.

If you want your Destruction warlock to be the best it can be, you have to have the right glyphs as you level and when you reach end-game content. If you aren’t sure which glyphs are right for your spec or your gaming activities, the following information will help you choose the glyphs that are right for your specific needs.

Leveling Glyphs:

At level 25 you will be able to “learn” your first glyphs. When a player reaches level 25 they are allowed to have 1 prime glyph, 1 major glyph and 1 minor glyph active at a time. When you reach level 50 that allowance will be changed to 2 prime, 2 major and 2 minor glyphs. When you reach level 75, you are allowed 3 prime glyphs, 3 major glyphs and 3 minor glyphs. You will want to purchase your glyphs in the following order:

Level 25:

Prime Glyph – Glyph of Immolate

Major Glyph – Glyph of Shadow Bolt

Minor Glyph – Glyph of Drain Soul

Level 50:

Prime Glyph – Glyph of Conflagrate

Major Glyph – Glyph of Life Tap

Minor Glyph – Glyph of Drain Soul

Level 75:

Prime Glyph – Glyph of Incinerate

Major Glyph – Glyph of Imp

Minor Glyph – Glyph of Eye of Kilrogg

Glyphs for Raiding:

Once you begin experiencing end-game content you need to make sure you have the proper glyphs in place. If your focus will be on raiding, place your glyphs as follows:

3 Prime Glyphs – Glyph of Conflagrate, Glyph of Immolate and Glyph of Incinerate

3 Major Glyphs – Glyph of Life Tap, Glyph of Shadowflame and Glyph of Soul Link

3 Minor Glyphs – Glyph of Unending Breath, Glyph of Ritual of Souls and Glyph of Drain Soul

Glyphs for PVP:

If you plan to focus on PVP, your glyphs will be a bit different. A level 85 PVP player should learn the following glyphs:

3 Prime Glyphs – Glyph of Conflagrate, Glyph of Immolate and Glyph of Incinerate

Gone are the days when a player’s talent tree and spell rotation were the only things that mattered when it came to pulling top DPS or taking out a player of the opposite faction. Nowadays players also have to have the proper glyphs if they hope to come out at the top of their class.

If you want your Demonology warlock to be as powerful as it can possibly be, you have to be sure that you have the right glyphs as you level and when you reach the end-game content. If you aren’t sure which glyphs to use and when you should use them, the following information will help understand which glyphs you should be using at all times.

Level 25:

Prime Glyph – Glyph of Felguard

Major Glyph – Glyph of Soul Link

Minor Glyph – Glyph of Drain Soul

Level 50:

Prime Glyph – Glyph of Lash of Pain

Major Glyph – Glyph of Seduction

Minor Glyph – Glyph of Eye of Kilrogg

Level 75:

Prime Glyph – Glyph of Metamorphosis

Major Glyph – Glyph of Shadow Bolt

Minor Glyph – Glyph of Enslave Demon

Glyphs for Raiding:

Once you begin experiencing end-game content you need to make sure you have the proper glyphs in place. If your focus will be on raiding, place your glyphs as follows:

3 Prime Glyphs – Glyph of Metamorphosis, Glyph of Immolate and Glyph of Incinerate

3 Major Glyphs – Glyph of Life Tap, Glyph of Shadow Bolt and Glyph of Soul Swap

3 Minor Glyphs – Glyph of Curse of Exhaustion, Glyph of Drain Soul and Glyph of Eye of Kilrogg

Glyphs for PVP:

If you plan to focus on PVP, your glyphs will be a bit different. A level 85 PVP player should learn the following glyphs:

3 Prime Glyphs – Glyph of Metamorphosis, Glyph of Felguard and Glyph of Immolate

3 Major Glyphs – Glyph of Soul Swap, Glyph of Soul Link and Glyph of Howl of Terror

3 Minor Glyphs – Glyph of Curse of Exhaustion, Glyph of Health Funnel and Glyph of Drain Soul
